Navigational Compass

Navigational compass is the outcome of the science and technology of finding the position and directing the course of vessels and aircraft. With the development of shipbuilding and the increase in knowledge of astronomy, there was increased use of this instrument.



Components of a navigational compass
Modern navigational compasses also features a baseplate with rulings for measuring distances on maps, a rotating bezel for measuring bearings of distant objects, and a sighting mirror that lets the user see both the compass needle and a distant object at the same time.
